What Customers Say About Sirius S50 Satellite Radio Receiver Home Dock:

You are suppossed to be able to install the antenna outside as well, but my windows do not open. However, all the windows in the room I have my stereo face south-east. But when it works - it works well. The antenna on the Home Dock is much trickier to use than the car antenna. In my part of the country, the directions say it must face north for best reception. So I am forced to try to recieve the signal through the walls of the house, which is similar to trying to receive the signal while driving through a forest - spotty at best.

I've disconnected/reconnected the antenna a few times, and unlike another reviewer, nothing has ever broken. Regardless, you don't need the CAR dock to use the HOME dock; that wouldn't make any sense at all, would it. That previous reviewer also erroneously claims ".it requires a car set up to use it in the home dock." That's ridiculous. Maybe she should have done a little homework (like reading the part that clearly states "For S50 satellite radio receiver [sold separately]") before making her purchase. It includes everything you need to listen to high-quality, digital satellite radio from your S50, plus a few extras: the dock, the power cord, 2 sets of audio cables, a remote (with battery), and an antenna.A previous reviewer gave this item 1 star because of a poor customer service experience.

I've owned this Home Kit for a year, and I haven't had any problems with it at any time. First of all, when you buy an S50, it comes with a car dock, so even if you did need the car dock to play it at home, you'd already have it. If what she stated is true, then it's terrible, of course, but that's no reason to rate the *product* poorly. The S50 Home Kit does exactly what it's supposed to do, and it does it perfectly. She should delete her "review," and use the Discussion area for non-product comments like hers.

From what she wrote, it sounds like she bought this home dock thinking that's all she needed, and never had an S50 to begin with.

2. I talked to people in customer service who told me I had to call people who manufacture the product. Repeated steps 1 and 2 and got someone very good working for the product manufacturer who was able to verify with me that it was defective. They tried to convince me to keep it until I got my replacement unit and didn't seem to care when I said I would not get a replacement unit because this was my 7th phone call to get a resolution on this one. But did I want to put it on hold just in case because it was probably a better deal for me if I did.8. He didn't have a car.

5. I was told to call a different number at Sirius and get a number to use to return it. When I called that number they said I wasn't under warranty because I had new product and it hadn't hit their computer system yet. Then I needed to call the people who have something to do with the signal.3. They didn't know who I should call.4.

The unit being broken is minor. it was no longer returnable to them and only to the manufacturer - the only reasonable experience in the entire transaction) 7. 1. I made a follow up call to see if I could reach someone in customer service to kindly give them a heads up on what may be a process problem so that they didn't lose more customers.

It was recommended I return it to "the store I bought it from" Amazon (which I did for full credit despite the warning on the package that if I opened it and set it up etc. They lost me on the customer service experience. This is not about the unit. But when a customer is on call # 2 or # 3 every service employee should be empowered to guide that customer to resolution.

You just have to make 8 different calls.I'd ordered this for a teenager only to find out that the description is misleading and it requires a car set up to use it in the home dock. I had already turned on the service so I had to call yet another number to turn off the service and have it all credited to my account. But it didn't seem to be performing correctly. I said "You aren't hearing me. Sometimes a problem can be a gateway to opportunity with a customer to deepen the relationship or impress them so much with service they trust your company. This was the exact opposite experience. But I should have been able to determine and fix it in fewer than 8 calls." I could excuse up to 3. But I agreed he could put the base in my car.

I called them to have them tell me it was working. 6. This was the processes in place and not necessarily the people although they clearly weren't empowered to help solve the problem or provide a better experience.Still while I made it quite clear to the final person in customer service that I would not do business with them again unless they got their customer service act together, she tried to get me to just put the subscription on hold so I could get a replacement unit. I was going to be a customer no matter what because my nephew wanted Sirius for Christmas. Customer service at Sirius was the absolute worst I have ever experienced. The people who fix the units can't talk to the people who run the service can't talk to the people who do billing, and they can't even forward you around. I called them only to have them tell me I was hearing something different than what I was actually hearing. I'm a very calm reasonable person who understands that people make mistakes.

If you have the S50 in your car and love it, you need this base. The TV is getting jealous of all the time I now spend with my Sirius Radio at home. Controls are identical to the car base and it looks awesome, it is in another class from all other home satellite units without moving up to something like a Tivoli. The home dock is well made and sounds fantastic feeding Sirius content into my Bose wave radio. I am very pleased with quality and style of the radio in my car. I have had my S50 for several months now. The S50 home dock has made me even happier with my Sirius radio purchase. I love it.

Had two fall apart (the antenna connection wire broke off both times, rendering it useless). You'll be okay if you never need to disconnect the antenna.otherwise, you are screwed.Love the service, like the S50, HATE the home docking kit. The Sirius S50 home docking kit is a piece of junk. The first one lasted a week, the second one barely two.
